MIAMI--I'm still in the thick of looking and photographing, downloading and editing. But I couldn't pass up this opportunity to share the art world version of Where's Waldo, created unexpectedly at the Thatcher Projects booth at Pulse, as this stylish woman passed in front of an Omar Chacon painting.
How fun to have captured this!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't call it a 'painting' exactly. I've seen this piece at the Saatchi gallery. Absolutely fun textured piece. But what DO you call it?
ReplyDeletewish I could see this painting up close.
ReplyDeleteAt first I didn't believe it could be a real person.
Fabulous! Hope fun is being had!
ReplyDeleteShe certainly is having fun blending in. Great observation and great photo!
ReplyDelete@ faunawolf... It's made entirely of acrylic paint, created gesturally, and is on a canvas: I'd call it a painting! Like most of Thatcher Projects artists, Chacon is just using a traditional medium in a unique way. He recontexutalizes our notions of what a painting should be or do, and has a helluva fun time doing it, I think.
ReplyDeleteHave you seen Chacon's show up at Thatcher Projects right now? If you haven't you should. It's amazing--so full of energy and enthusiasm and life!
Ha haaaaaaaaaa! Absolutely brilliant!
ReplyDeleteWonderful, I love it!
ReplyDeleteWow! At first I thought the shirt was the very same pattern. I have heard about buying a painting to match a sofa - how about, to match a wardrobe?
ReplyDeleteLove it!..There at the right moment, yet again! Can't wait for the updates.
ReplyDeleteI was at Art Basel & missed this. I saw others by the artist @ Margaret Thatcher in NYC yesterday. His work is so cool! Thanks for a great post.
