.I feel like a prospector who has struck gold. A motherlode of exhibitions by extraordinary women is visible in New York right now. What’s more, these are women with experience, chops, and years in the studio. Most of the shows will be up into and through June, some into August.

I'll do a series of posts on these shows over the next couple of weeks, so this is just a little overview of what’s coming. The links will go live as the posts go up.

These shows look just fabulous. A NY visit is a must! Thanks for posting these teasers, Joanne. And thanks to our foremother artists for making the work.
Lee Bontecou! I can't wait to see your post on her show especially.
You weren't kidding! Can't wait to see the Bontecou, Houshiary, and Mind and Matter. Grazie!
Bontecou's new work is simply magical. I saw her retrospective at the Hammer and my mouth fell open in the final room. The early pieces are raw and strong. The middle period, not my taste. But these new pieces make me wish I had sold my soul so I could afford to own one. They are like floating metaphors, shifting meaning with each angle.
