You're probably wondering why my postings have been sparse lately. It's because I'm getting ready for a solo at the Marcia Wood Gallery in Atlanta, Diamond Life, opening April 16. It's my fourth solo with the gallery (and my 26th career solo).
Ever since I made that diamond-shaped print in June, I've been thinking about the way the diamond asserts itself in space, and the way it holds my color fields within it. I've also been thinking about rhomboids within the square field. There's a lot of push and pull, point and counterpoint--and, ultimately, equipoise. Here's a peek at what I've been working on.

@Bev: You are right about the "mathy" part. It was harder than I thought to figure it out, even with graph paper. I'm working on a third painting in which elongated diamonds orient verically on a diamond-oriented square. It's a good thing no one is depending on me to send them into space.

I especially like the quality of the colored triangles being inlaid. Considering the quality of how two hard edge color areas join, and making that juncture beautiful is usually missed by those who use masking tape. The little cliff of paint that is often left can be jarring on close inspection. Poetry in details...
